Stegra, formerly H2 Green Steel, is building a hydrogen-based steel plant at Boden in northern Sweden, where about 700 MW of electrolysers make hydrogen that strips oxygen from iron ore in place of coal, before electric arc furnaces melt it into steel. As of August 2026 the mill is still under construction and not yet producing; planned output is 2.5 million tonnes a year.
