HansaIndex records verified funding rounds, exits, and product launches from across Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, and Iceland, checked against the primary source, filed in a public database, and published as one weekly issue every Tuesday at 06:00 CET.

One editor, not a newsroom

I research, build, and edit HansaIndex alone, from Vilnius. No newsroom badge, no job title: one guy with a passion for data and the startups of this region, who wanted a single place where their record is kept properly. So I built one.

The entire stack exists for this one job: collecting the news, verifying what actually happened, and presenting it plainly. The software does the gathering and the first pass of checking; I set the rules, watch the record, and spot-check what stands out. No content team, no syndication desk. One editor, one read.

Baltoscandia

Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland. Geographers have a name for exactly this set: Baltoscandia, coined by the Swedish geographer Sten de Geer in 1928 and developed by the Lithuanian geographer Kazys Pakštas. The same eight now meet as the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8). HansaIndex covers these eight countries and no others. Pan-Nordic and pan-Baltic publications are credited to “region” rather than a single country.
